Every morning I awake to the sounds of the filipino people. The honking of the trikes and the laughter of the kids as they play. The day starts early here because they do buisness with the sun. In our little town of Cainta kids are everywhere and they stand at our gate just waiting for us to step out. They all know our names so we constantly here tit
a kailie, tita kailie come play with me. Tita come play tita, tita, tita!! Sometimes you grow to despise that word because you can't just blend in here. I am a person who loves to fade into the backrround so having eyes constantly on me has been an adjustment. God is not letting me fade away anymore He is calling me out. I am currently spending a lot of time at a home for girls who have been abused or neglected. My heart aches for these girls because I remember what it was like to just want love and I would do anything to get it. I want to be an example for them. I know God is calling me to step out of my bubble and give these girls love and guidance. They are precious gifts from God and they need someone to tell them that every minute of every day. Something else that really tested me is when I went to Chapel friday morning and the teacher made the following announcement to her students, "Thanks to donations we will be able to give you all one egg again this week. We were able to give you one last week and we can give you one again this week, Praise God" The kids started cheering and it took everything I had not to start crying right there. One egg meant the world to these kids and they were praising God for providing them. How many times have I thrown and egg just to watch it break? How many times have I refused and egg because I don't like them? I am starting to see how much I take for granted and not only am I making an impact on the people of the Philippines but they are making an impact on me. They are teaching me how to freely love and how to be thankful for the things that seem so small because no matter how small it is a gift from God.
