A note from Manila

Hi everyone! I am Michaela and I am the female team leader of the fall 2013 Philippines trip. We have made it here safely and we are settling into our beautiful new home in Manila. We are amazingly blessed in our living situation and will post pictures soon to give you an idea of what our life looks like. Yesterday we had the opportunity to tour several of the facilities that we can work at here at Kids International Ministries. Our contact did a great job of keeping us awake to beat Jet lag! The Philippines Team Has Arrived!

Michaela, one of our two leaders for our Fall, Philippines Passport Team just called and the team has arrived safely in the Philippines.  They are at the Manila airport with some of the American missionaries whom they will be working with in the months ahead.  It's not too far of a drive from the airport to their actual ministry site and after their long flight, the hour or two in the van will feel like a breeze!  It will also give them their first glimpse into this beautiful land! And He maketh me lie down in an 8ft high bed…

I peeked over the edge of the almost 8-foot high bed– from up there, it felt more like a dizzying 20 feet. Great, I get to stay the next four nights with the discomfort of possibly rolling off this three-story bunk and splattering on the ground in front of my new teammates (whom I greatly desired their acceptance). Welcome to Adventures in Missions training camp– where the mosquitos bite, you shower with a hose, the toilets clog, and the gravel is a death trap for slipping and falling into utter embarrassment. After pulling an all-nighter to pack, flying from KC to Atlanta,...
