A Drop In the Bucket

Finding joy in immense poverty found here in the Philippines can be tough sometimes. The other day I was introduced to a twelve year old girl named Crystelle. a local pastor’s wife had met Crystelle a couple of days earlier at a feeding, noticed she looked malnourished, and followed her home to meet her family. Two days later, Andy (one of the guys on my team) and I were invited to take some groceries to the family and meet them. We parked the car outside of a gated community and walked through a hole in the fence into a squatter’s village. The further we walked back into this...

Guitars, Girls, and a Game of Jacks

SO…reading the title to this blog may leave you wondering why I’m writing about guitars, girls and jacks…just trust me. Over the past month in the Philippines, I’ve had the opportunity to come into a home for more than 30 orphaned and abused girls and play guitar, fellowship, and worship with them. Our Little Slice of Heaven

Every week, we experience just a taste of the glory and majesty of heaven. While we do experience love, joy, and redemption on a daily basis, that isn’t what I’m talking about here. One Month Down.

One month. I have been in the Philippines for one month as of October 1st. Looking back, it’s crazy that one-third of my trip is already over. I have been busy doing work around the community, working at the children’s home and the JAZ home, going on feedings, taking kids swimming, leading a Bible study for the community girls, and helping lead chapel every Friday at two schools. For those who read this blog, I just wanted to give an overall summary of the work we have been doing here. Children’sHome: The children’s home is only a 20 second walk from the YMC (Yunjin...
