Why do I follow Christ?

My buddy and I are at McDonald’s sitting next to the window. We had just set our food down. A child, whose name is Jeremy, walks to the window and motions he needs food, then sits down right there on the ground.

I have seen people ask for food before, but this child, Jeremy, he had a sense of desperation about him. When he sat down, he didn’t sit down like someone who has had food in the past two days. He fell into this place, exhaustion was written all over him, he had no energy, no life. We gave him food and drink, and we got to talk to him for a bit.

As he left our presence, you could see life in him again.

Twice a week we go on a feeding to Angono. Our team has had an opportunity to build relationships with these people every week. Many of the families that live there do not have a home. They live on an outdoor basketball court with a covering. Their walls are made of bed sheets and blankets.

Two weeks ago there were men putting up wooden walls held together by simple brackets. It really wasn’t that much. But that day I saw a life in those people that I hadn’t seen before. They had something new. It was a simple act of love by some people who had donated these. (by the way it was 76 US dollars to put up a new home for these people.)

I could give you so many stories like these, but in reality, you won’t understand unless you experience it yourself. So go.

Here’s the deal, it is always all about love. God is love. Without love, there is no life. God is in us and among us, so let us love. Let’s stop living in this lie that it’s ever not about love.

Let us rid of all expectations and start living with a burning passion. Let us live in a way that we are in love with a God who is in love with us. I think that as we start to live in that light, we start living in a powerful way, not a power of our own, but only from the Father. Let us live for a God who is greater than all our expectations.

Let us be prophets, let us be teachers, let us be preachers, let us be students, let us be ambassadors of Christ. Let us be beloved children of the Most High King, let us live in freedom to love, let us live in the Kingdom that our Father has adopted us into. Let us go out and love with all that we have. Let us make Him known.

May the Holy Spirit be with you to preach the Word.
