Learning to Expect the Unexpected:Training Camp

I, having been on an Adventures in Missions trip before, had a few expectations of what training camp would be like.  I expected it to be mostly like last time, and in some ways it was.  I expected to be sleeping in tents with outside showers and porta-pots.  I also expected super high humidity and a little Georgia heat.  When I first arrived at camp, I was pleasantly surprised.
I made a short hike up the little hill to our CABINS.  Unexpected, but I'm totally not complaining.  These things have beds, indoor bathrooms, indoor showers, and even airconditioning.  Score.
We put down our bags and went back to the campfire.  There, we were informed that we would have ten minutes to go grab three items that would get us through the night.  Crap.  So we ran and grabbed three things.  Mine happened to be a sleeping bag, a toothbrush, and toothpaste.  No bible, bad, I know, but my leader said the word of God is written on your heart so its ok for one night. (:
We were then given two tarps and some rope and told to make a shelter for our eleven team members.  So, naturally, we did.  and the eleven of us slept in it ALL night.  Needless to say, we got pretty close that night….especially at 7am when the rain started.
I learned pretty quickly that night that things arent always what they seem; I need to be flexable; and most importantly, to expect the unexpected.
